Product Description

THE No.09 STAINLESS STEEL – PREMIUM WOOD EDITIONS

The No.09 Stainless Steel Folding knife is great for larger tasks. Fold it up and stow it in a toolbox, or in your backpack while camping. The large profile of the No.09 knife makes it great for bushcraft, large wood carving and longer cuts.

The blade has been designed and perfected over generations to maximize the cutting quality and ensure it’s easy to sharpen after years of hard work. Use it in the garden, at the dinner table, or even on your next adventure. Keep the knife in your pocket, purse or toolbox and we are certain you’ll love it for years to come!

THE PERFECT SIZE FOR EVERYDAY CARRY

Both smart and simple, the Opinel folding knife is composed of 5 elements: the blade, the wooden handle, the fixed ferrule, the rivet and the rotating VIROBLOC locking ring which was added in 1955 to sizes No.06 and above.

The knife is equipped with a 3.51 inch blade, open length 8.18 inches.

CARING FOR YOUR KNIFE

All Opinel wooden-handle knives are not designed to be washed in the dishwasher. Heat and moisture will cause any wood to swell which will make the knife hard to open at times. Opinel suggests carefully hand-washing your knives and leaving them out to air dry. The Sandvik 12C27 Mod. Stainless Steel used for the blades is low maintenance, meaning it is highly resistant to rust and can be polished or cared for with simple organic oils.

MADE IN THE FRENCH ALPS FOR OVER 130 YEARS

Joseph Opinel designed his first pocket knife in 1890, creating a tool that is as robust and functional as it is simple and beautiful. From his workshop at the foot of the French Alps, Opinel forged a cult classic. Generations of artists, explorers, and farmers have carried the instantly recognizable, imminently useful Opinel knife in their pockets.

Little has changed since 1890. Rooted in history and a commitment to craftsmanship, the Opinel family still makes their knives in the Savoie region of France. Each year, THEIR team of 150 employees in France manufactures over 5 million knives, ranging from outdoor tools to kitchen knives, all to honor Joseph Opinel’s focus on quality and simplicity.

Virobloc Safety Ring

Robust and versatile: the No.09 knife is a generously sized pocket knife with a 9 cm blade (2.2 mm thickness), which makes it extremely versatile. The walnut wood handle provides a comfortable grip. Walnut from French farms is a dark and brown wood and often grained. It is painted for optimum protection against moisture and dirt.
Sharp and easy care stainless steel blade: The No. 09 knife has a modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade developed for Opinel. It is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. The chrome content of at least 0.40% increases the resistance of the Opinel knife to corrosion.
Timeless design, unique know-how: invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring equips our close-fitting pocket knives from the No.06 to No.12. Thanks to this rotating ferrule, in addition to the locking of the blade in the open position, it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position.
Opinal: the Opinel No. 09 folding knife is also available in olive wood, oak and beech wood. Which one would you like?
Opinal quality: In 1890, in a small village of Maurienne in Savoy, Joseph Opinel invented the pocket knife that carries his name today. OPINEL is always run by its descendants and has been producing products that have been reputation for the brand for nearly 130 years.
